DR. AND MRS. HUGH MCCOLLUM

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is Thy Faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23

Dr. McCollum's Testimony

I was born on December 14, 1927 in Acworth, GA to Robert and Lois McCollum. My grandfather was Rev. Will McCollum, a Baptist preacher. I was born the second time in April, 1941.

After graduation from high school in 1945, I entered the USAAF. Upon leaving the service, I entered college, preparing for a career in business law. I was also a member of the Air Force Reserve. At the outbreak of the Korean War, my reserve unit was called to active duty. One half of our unit went to Korea, the other half to Puerto Rico. I went to Puerto Rico.

While in Puerto Rico, the Lord called me into His service. A few days after His call, I was called into my Commander's office and told that I could be discharged if I so desired. The next day I was on a plane to the States to be separated. I arrived home on Friday and was in church on Sunday. Sunday night at BYPU, I met a very nice young lady. Her name was Norma Dyer, the daughter of the Chairman of the Deacon committee. Three months later on August 24, 1951, this young lady became my beautiful bride.

God has tremendously blessed our 47 years of marriage. We have three sons and one daughter. We also have 13 grandchildren. Our children know the Lord as their Saviour. I believe all of our grandchildren have been saved except the youngest, who is three months old.

After graduation from college, we served 12 years in Mexico doing pioneer mission work. A school we founded is still going strong under the leadership of our good friend, Rev. Manuel Lopez.

I retired as an active pastor on Easter Sunday, April, 1994. For about three and one half years I worked out of First Baptist Church of Milford, OH in their Bearing Precious Seed Ministry. After a service at Harvest Baptist Church in Fairdale, KY in October, 1996, Pastor Jack Alumbaugh asked me to pray about joining his Staff. After much prayer and consultation, we left Bearing Precious Seed and joined Brother Alumbaugh in July, 1997. I am co-laboring with Brother Jack as Pastor of Evangelism and Missions. Brother Jack is my Pastor and my Friend. God is truly blessing this ministry.

We are available for Mission conferences and pulpit supply.

Norma McCollum's Testimony

I was born on October 27, 1928 in Fulton Co., Georgia to Charles and Sarah Dyer. I have a very rich Christian heritage and am at least a third generation Christian for which I thank the Lord. My spiritual birth was in October of 1936 in a tent meeting revival. After graduating from high school with a course in business, I went to Bob Jones University where I continued my music and Bible.

August 24, 1951, my husband and I were married and he began his studies at Bob Jones University. We have four children and 13 grandchildren. Our fifth child, Joel, went to be with the Lord at the age of three while we served in Mexico.

My life has been one of much joy in serving the Lord with my husband in Mexico for 12 years and as pastor's wife, teacher and musician. God has blessed us above all that we could ask or think.

The burden of my heart is to help those who need help along the way, to disciple and teach them how to walk and talk with the Lord. Even in this time of life, we still serve Him full time in what ever capacity He has for us daily here at Harvest Baptist Church.
